Accessibility
This site is a work in progress, and so is its accessibility. Here is where it stands. Updated 2026-11-01.
What we aim for
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, on every page. Where we fall short, it's listed below.
What works today
- Keyboard. Everything works without a mouse: Tab to move, Enter or Space to press. In the game, the arrow keys or A and D steer, Space starts and P pauses.
- Screen readers. Clear headings and landmarks, labelled buttons and fields, and spoken updates when a ticket prints or a sign-up goes through.
- The roadwork sign. It's drawn on a canvas, so its words are also in its description, and the Accessibility panel has a "Read the sign aloud" button.
- Larger text. Up to one and a half times the normal size, from the Accessibility panel.
- High contrast. Pure black and white with solid borders and no background effects.
- An easy-to-read font. Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, designed for readers with low vision.
- Motion. "Pause motion" stops every animation and sound effect, and the site follows your device's reduce-motion setting.
- No flashing. The caution lights blink once a second, well under the flash limits.
What's still missing
- Bare Metal is a fast, visual game. There's no audio-only version yet.
- The crow answers in English for now.
- We haven't had the site tested by disabled users yet. That's on the list before launch.
Tell us what's hard
Open the crow chat and type "accessibility" plus what went wrong. The crow keeps the words (nothing about you) and the crew reads them. A proper contact inbox is coming soon.
